Our User Conference, Better. Faster. Simpler. Accelerate Your Capabilities with Velsera, held in mid-November, was a smashing success. Our speakers shared their knowledge, the audience engaged, and we’ve identified topics our customers want covered for the next event. During the conference, and during my time with Velsera so far, your message has come through loud and clear: our work together is important to making progress in precision medicine.
The need for what Velsera is doing is real
In 2022, there were almost 20 million new cancer cases and 9.7 million cancer-related deaths worldwide. By 2040, the number of new cancer cases per year is expected to rise to 29.9 million and the number of cancer-related deaths to 15.3 million (source: cancer.gov).
And 1 in 10 Americans are affected by a rare disease – between 25 and 30 million Americans battling approximately 7,000 rare diseases (source: rarediseases.org). These diseases that impact so many are not going away and we need to get better at treating them.
Genomics and Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) provide a new era of breakthroughs in the medical field, especially in cancer and rare diseases. The promise of personalized medicine offers hope for better patient outcomes.
Tools like Genetic Relationship and Fingerprinting (GRAF) deliver researchers with the ability to analyze rare diseases and understudied populations in new ways, paving the way for more rapid development of treatments for the people who need them the most.
Whether a clinical laboratory enabling medical teams with NGS testing insights that impact patient care or researchers analyzing 40+ petabytes of available data to speed up treatment breakthroughs, the need for what Velsera and our customers are doing is real – and impactful.
Velsera is making cutting–edge research more accessible
Adopting NGS for drug & treatment research and clinical testing requires adopting cutting-edge technologies. This means training your teams on new approaches, techniques, tools, and regulations. Your feedback is clear: it is not easy – and often not possible – to hire a lab technician, Medical Director, bioinformatician, data scientist, or genomics researcher with the prerequisite skill to speed your precision medicine journey.
Velsera’s experience with hundreds of labs, thousands of researchers, and vast volumes of clinical genomic data allows us to guide you in your journey. Our Clinical Genomic Scientists can guide you through NGS adoption, our experienced bioinformaticians can assist you with your analysis, and our implementation experts can configure our software products to meet your unique requirements. Our experts guide you on your precision medicine journey every step of the way, making your adoption more efficient and impactful.
Training and upskilling your team is an ongoing process, which is why we are investing in our online learning platform with self-paced, role-based learning paths that provide the knowledge your team needs, when they need it – as they gain acumen over time. Cutting edge isn’t only about the technology, it’s about ensuring that technology is useful and understood. This will drive the foundation for building certification paths to allow practitioners and their organizations to validate their knowledge more effectively.
Our Collaboration Impacts Patient Outcomes
Paving the way in a maturing space is both challenging and rewarding. The collective knowledge of Velsera and our customer base is most impactful when we can collaborate together. You, our customers, have expressed a strong desire to not only receive additional insights from Velsera but to connect directly with each other for discussions and information sharing.
We will be kicking off two new initiatives in 2025: online community forums and role-based user groups. Our community forums will be hosted on the same platform as our online training and support in an effort to provide you with the most integrated and seamless experience. These forums will allow you to pose questions to our online community and have the opportunity to receive feedback from not only Velsera employees but also the broader Velsera community.
Did I miss something? Please reach out and share your ideas. At Velsera, we are here to be your strategic partner with technology, expertise, and insights. I’m excited to continue to team up with you to drive precision medicine forward.
