Collaboratively developing, deploying, and running secondary analysis pipelines to support clinical trials
Speaker: Ryan Golhar, PhD, Scientific Director at Bristol Myers Squibb
The Informatics and Predictive Sciences (IPS) team at BMS performs innovative, applied science spanning genomics to translational biomarker research to empower key data-driven decisions across a rich pipeline of next-generation medicines. Velsera (formerly Seven Bridges) has partnered with us since 2015. Velsera provides a secure, dedicated, collaborative platform to accelerate secondary genomics processing that is deeply integrated into other critical BMS systems. Additionally, we work with a dedicated team of bioinformatics scientists and a dedicated project manager to support technical and scientific projects in a Continuous Development model. IPS leverages their differentiating analysis techniques while also gaining the advantage of improved performance and reduced time.
Interoperable frameworks for translation discovery and clinical innovation for pediatric diseases
Speaker: Allison Heath, PhD, Director of Data Technology and Innovation at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
The Kids First Data Resource Center provides robust genetic and clinical data for pediatric cancer and congenital disorders to researchers worldwide, to help us understand these diseases better. We co-developed CAVATICA with Velsera to support multiple data ecosystems; CAVATICA provides tools to support a diverse spectrum of researchers, from low-code to packed workflows, to interactive analysis. Intersecting our work with Kids First, the Children's Brain Tumor Network (CBTN) and at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we are excited to pilot more direct integration of clinical diagnostics via CGW with novel research analytics to power innovations in precision medicine.
Driving user uptake on patient data to catalyze innovation in the pancreas cancer field
Speaker: Sudheer Doss, PhD, Chief Business Officer at PanCAN
“Build it and they will come” only takes us so far. Once rich patient data is generated, we face the challenge of driving uptake and usage of these data. We will explore the organizational, platform, and operational requirements along with incentive structures to drive uptake by the academic and commercial research communities. We also address the opportunities and challenges of targeting multiple audiences with a singular platform (e.g., data scientist, molecular biologist, physician scientist, those in the field of pancreas cancer vs those not currently active in the pancreas cancer field). Casting as broad a net as possible is a key ingredient to catalyzing innovation.
